About Us

Browns Butchery is a family owned business established in Newcastle in 1928 by George W Brown.
My grandfather opened his first store in Darby st. Then later opened stores in Merewether, Hamilton, Cardiff, New Lambton, Bar Beach and Kotara Fair now known as Westfield. He also had a large wholesale business supplying Hospitals, The Army, RAAF and store ships.


My father, Warren W Brown joined the business in 1955 doing his apprenticeship at the Bar Beach store.
My father purchased the business from my grandfather in 1974. He purchased a store in William st Raymond Terrace in 1978, and then went on to open a brand new shop in Raymond Terrace Plaza known as Terrace Meats.



I Timothy W Brown started my apprenticeship 1987 at the age 15. I then purchased the Terrace Meats store off my father in 1996. I operated Terrace Meats for 10 years winning numerous awards for sausages and the Port stephens small business awards. Before i sold Terrace Meats in 2004 I purchased the shop in the Raymond Terrace Market Place now known as Browns Butchery. Browns butchery is still a very successful business continuing to win awards for a number of different products we produce. All of our beef is hand picked straight from the paddock by Warren Brown from the Williams Valley.
It is all pasture fed. All of our Pork, Lamb and Chicken is also sourced locally and is of the highest quality.

Over the years Browns Butchery has won many awards for our sausages. We have also won awards for Smoked Leg Hams and our Bacon, which are all produced at that market place store.
